Fans rejoice! Broadway's revolutionary musical Hamilton is set to mark its 10th anniversary with a highly anticipated reunion of its original cast at the 78th Annual Tony Awards on June 8, 2025. The performance will celebrate the show's enduring impact on theater and culture.

Since its Broadway debut at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in 2015, Hamilton has garnered critical acclaim and numerous accolades. At the 70th Annual Tony Awards, it received a record-breaking 16 nominations and won 11, including Best Musical. The show also earned a Grammy Award, an Olivier Award, a Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and a special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors. Its original cast recording became the first Broadway album to be certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America.

The Reunion Performance

The reunion at the Tony Awards will feature creator Lin-Manuel Miranda and original cast members such as Jonathan Groff, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Leslie Odom Jr., Daveed Diggs, Phillipa Soo, Jasmine Cephas Jones, and Christopher Jackson.

They will be joined by fellow castmates Carleigh Bettiol, Andrew Chappelle, Ariana DeBose, Alysha Deslorieux, Sydney James Harcourt, Neil Haskell, Sasha Hutchings, Thayne Jasperson, Stephanie Klemons, Morgan Marcell, Javier Muñoz, Okieriete Onaodowan, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Jon Rua, Austin Smith, Seth Stewart, Betsy Struxness, Ephraim Sykes, and Voltaire Wade-Greene.

Anthony Ramos' Absence

Notably absent from the reunion is Anthony Ramos, who portrayed John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in the original production. Ramos is currently engaged in multiple projects, including his role as Parker Robbins/The Hood in the upcoming Marvel series Ironheart, set to premiere on Disney+ in 2025. He is also involved in other film and television endeavors, which likely preclude his participation in the reunion.

That doesn't mean there is anything wrong between Ramos and his Hamilton cast. The actor and singer met with Miranda this month in a spontaneous In the Heights reunion.

Latino Representation at the 2025 Tony Awards

This year's Tony Awards highlight significant Latino representation. Buena Vista Social Club, a musical adaptation based on the iconic Cuban music group, received ten nominations, including Best Musical. Additionally, Real Women Have Curves: The Musical, featuring music by Joy Huerta and Benjamin Velez, earned nominations for Best Original Score and Best Featured Actress in a Musical for Justina Machado. Machado, who previously starred in the 1993 production of the play, now portrays Carmen Garcia in the Broadway adaptation.

The 78th Annual Tony Awards will be hosted by Tony winner and Wicked star Cynthia Erivo and broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City on CBS from 8:00 to 11:00 PM ET. A pre-show hosted by first-time Tony nominee Darren Criss and Renée Elise Goldsberry will stream on Pluto TV from 6:40 to 8:00 PM ET.
